CAR PARK - EMPTY
My first thought was ‘alarm clock malfunction’.
No, it’s definitely 9am Friday morning. So why is the car park still empty? Maybe the aliens have finally landed.

I climb the stairs to the office, dump my bag and head for the coffee machine.
Ah, now I remember! Monday is a public holiday.
Think long weekend and there's no need to guess where everyone has gone … headed early for the beaches no doubt .... and yes ... I'm jealous ... so there!

The geniuses who run things in our not-so-little Canadian province have decided that we need another statutory holiday, so next month we'll mark the first ever Family Day in Ontario.
Never mind that no one else in the country will be taking this day. We'll be all alone in our long-weekendness. Which I'm sure my clients elsewhere waiting for me to complete their projects will really appreciate.

Hello carmi ... Ours was also a regional holiday ... different regions have different days. Brilliant ... but it's a holiday so I'm not complaining.
