Xmas sale?

Driving home from work - it was dark, it was raining, the traffic was heavy - I wasn’t exactly feeling cheerful. Finally I arrived, parked and wandered down the drive to collect the mail from the letter box. That’s when I saw it – amongst the junk mail!

Am I going mad or what?

X’mas sale ... note the apostrophe! BUT IT’S JUNE! Okay, it is winter ... but does that make it Xmas?

I rather naively perhaps, believed that Christmas had something to do with a birthday in December ... nothing at all to do with the seasons. Did all that change some time when I wasn’t looking?

That's unbelievable ... ridiculous. They might as well combine it with Easter and be done with it. (I think the Christmas in June has to do with NZers wanting to know what it feels like having a mid-winter Christmas ... some places have Christmas Dinners in June. My birthday -today - is on what would be Christmas Day in NZ if we had a mid-winter Christmas ... weird eh!?)

Rosie, I'm with you on that ... they are heaps easier to ignore.

Heaps early as you say megz_mum

Thanks barbie and welcome ... unfortunately we don't get an extra xmas holiday ... that would be nice!

Kay ... you're absolutely right ... after I noticed this xmas sale flyer, i also noticed the christmas dinners. How odd!!

Antipodeans do seem to be rather taken by the idea of Christmas in July. Thankfully, I don't think the idea will ever really take off.

As a gimmick, it got your attention... out of the clutter of paper in the mailbox.
But from a sosio-religious perspective, maybe not so great... but hey, its a sale... ha ha ha.

I suppose you're right ... both barbie and ernest ... it's a sale. The thing is, have you noticed, there ALWAYS seems to be a sale for some reason or the other?

LOL, I remember a shop near the University that had a SALE sign up their window for most part of the year!
If its always a sale, then why bother... just say that you are a discount store...but no.. that will bring negative connotations, so its a high end store, with a sale throughout the year... bah humbug!
