We’ve lost it!
Unbelievable ... but wikipedia confirms it … It’s now made by coca-cola!
What is it?
L&P of course! L&P stands for Lemon & Paeroa. L&P is to New Zealand what Irn-Bru is to Scotland. Big difference though ….Irn-Bru is still Barr’s Irn-Bru … just as it’s always been.
L&P gets its name from the ingredients: lemon juice combined with carbonated mineral water from the town of Paeroa. Paeroa still has the BIG bottle. I know I saw it there a few months ago but I didn’t know then that we had lost it!
Don’t you just hate it when local stuff goes mulinational? Sigh!

Yes. For some reason, it almost always loses some of its quality in the transition to a corporate product. I have never had this beverage before...I will be looking forward to trying it but would have enjoyed it just as much if I had been told about it and had it shipped.
As a Paeroa local, all I can say is... thats pretty sad, but maybe now we can get rid of the other big bottle, the ugly plastic one down the other end of town :)
hi bluest ... I don't think L&P has been much of a success outside New Zeland .... not like Irn-Bru which you can get loads of places ...
Hello cin77 and welcome .. and here was me thinking you locals were so proud of your big brown bottle!!!
I have a picture of my two oldest posing by the bottle. I honestly thought it had been bought out by Coca Cola a long time ago.
hey wendywings ... you're probably right .. but I only came to know recently .. the joys of innocence and all that!!! :(
Oh Yes! I hate that, to...! It is getting to be that there are just about 5 businesses in the whole world---This is not right!
It must be a very profitable drink if Coca Cola has bought it up! I call this INTERNATIONAL GREED!
Here from Michele's this A.M.!
hello oldoldlady ... it is THE most popular drink in New Zealand. I don't think it has hit the international scene yet .... who knows what coca-cola plans.
I'm hoping that something happens that makes small local businesses florish ... carbon footprints and all that!!!!
Oh no; for real?
sadly, chiefbiscuit ... sadly ....
